My Town! Coffs Harbour

Bernie takes us on a quick tour of his town…Coffs Harbour!

What I love about Coffs Harbour...The quiet regional town life after living in a metropolitan city like Sydney, the weather being sub tropical, sunny most days and not too hot or humid.

Where I wander...There are lots of places to lose oneself - a walk around our beautiful botanic gardens, or a walk along the many beaches to enjoy the sun or a swim, a stroll along the jetty cafe strip for a morning coffee or tea.

My favourite place to get a beer with friends is...The Coffs Hotel, C-Ex club, Park Beach Bowling club, Park beach Surf Club as well as a host of other places that one can meet up at.

If I want to escape from the world for a little while I go to...Little diggers beach for a quiet nude time! The botanical gardens- just wander among the trees or sit by the creek and drift your mind into your memories.

What's the Vibe? Living on the coast has always been a dream, being an ex seaman I have a thing about the ocean, the beaches, the regional small town feeling, friendly people, the mountains around Coffs Harbour - one minute you are on the coast, a short drive and you are in a rain forest.

Places of interest to a visitor. Mutton bird island, as long as you are fit! Great views back over Coffs and out to sea, Sealy's lookout via Bruxner Park Road (need a car to get there) great viewing platform over Coffs Harbour, also for the energetic tree canopy walks and climbs. Sawtell a vibrant small town a short drive from Coffs, shopping center cafe's and a swimming beach. Bellingen , a small town in the foot hills half hour drive from Coffs great small town with lots of history and hippy elements.

Coffs Harbour is a 5hr 40min drive north of Sydney and just over four hours' drive from Brisbane.

You can make this a memorable stop on a road trip, as you explore the spectacular NSW North Coast.

Direct flights operate from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Coffs Harbour airport.

You can also catch the train from Sydney and the journey takes around nine hours.
